What to expect on the day of Lip Lift surgery
On the day of your Lip Lift in Orlando at Soma Plastic Surgery, you will first meet with Dr. Papanicolaou and discuss your procedure one more time. Dr. Papanicolaou may make some temporary marks on your lips for targeted and previously discussed positions of the incisions. You will then be administered either local anesthesia or sedation to ensure your comfort throughout the process.
Dr. Papanicolaou will skillfully perform the Lip Lift by making carefully placed incisions along the natural lip line or beneath the base of the nose, depending on the technique he chooses. He will remove any excess skin and reposition the remaining tissue to elevate your upper lip. Once finished, Dr. Papanicolaou will close the incisions with sutures and apply some bandages for additional protection.
The surgery typically takes about one to two hours, and after the procedure, you will receive detailed post-operative care instructions to promote proper healing.
Lip Lift recovery
After your Lip Lift surgery, our staff will monitor you in our recovery room until you awaken from sedation. It is recommended to have a friend or caretaker drive you home in case any effects of sedation last.
As you recover, it is important to give your body time to heal. There will be some swelling and bruising around your lips but should subside over the next few days. We encourage our patients to avoid any strenuous activities for the first few weeks and follow the specific guidelines for eating, drinking, talking, and using the lip and overall mouth area.
